For our final project in 10 years of father-daughter collaboration at ABL3 Architects, we’re celebrating a project that perfectly encapsulates the essence of collaboration: The Boathouse.
What made this project truly special wasn’t just the stunning design—it was the collaboration at every level. The self-build clients worked closely with their family, who supplied the timber from Canada, adding a personal touch to every beam. This project was holistic, sensitive, and executed with exceptional craftsmanship from start to finish.
Designing for a site that was required by planning to be “of outstanding design merit” was a challenge we embraced wholeheartedly. The end result? A contemporary take on a timber barn that exceeded all expectations.
It’s always an honour to work on projects that feel like a home from home for everyone involved, and the views over Salcombe Estuary are a constant reminder of the beauty and success of this special project.
