For our sixth project in 10 years of father-daughter collaboration at ABL3 Architects, we’re heading back to the Devon Coastal Path to celebrate a truly special transformation: Woodcot Cottage.
This project was a joy in every way. With breathtaking views from every room, our challenge was to reconfigure the layout so the family could fully embrace their surroundings. The design is understated, modest, and humble—a respectful evolution of the original cottage, carefully extended with sympathy and grace.
One of the greatest compliments we received? That from the outside, it looks as though we’ve barely touched it—despite almost doubling its size! That’s the magic of thoughtful design, where every detail works in harmony with its setting.
A project like this proves that modern living and heritage can coexist beautifully—and when done right, the best architecture feels like it’s always been there.
