For our fifth project in 10 years of father-daughter collaboration at ABL3 Architects, we’re celebrating another waterside milestone: The Tideway Scullers School Boathouse.
This project was a true test of perseverance, securing planning permission against the odds due to its location beside Chiswick Bridge and its impact on the river views. But with careful design and a clear vision, we delivered much-needed boat storage, gym facilities, and changing rooms, ensuring this historic rowing club could continue to thrive.
With our new offices just two minutes from the Thames, it’s a joy to see the TSS club colours out on the water. And you’ll often find us on the riverbanks during Henley Royal Regatta, cheering on the rowers and supporting the various boathouses we’ve designed over the years—including Bryanston School Boathouse, which earned a regional RIBA award.
For us, designing for the river isn’t just a job—it’s a passion. And this project is a reminder that sometimes, going against the current leads to the most rewarding results.
